ABOUT THE ITINERARY
This 21 day odyssey begins in Tokyo, a metropolis where centuries old temples sit steps below shimmering glass towers. Here, you can stand at Sens艒-ji, the city鈥檚 oldest Buddhist temple founded in the 7th century, before stepping into cutting edge districts like Shibuya and Harajuku.
Travel by bullet train to Kaga Onsen, a forested sanctuary where minimalist ryokan bathe you in serene hot spring waters. Onsen bathing is a centuries old ritual in Japan, thought to bring relaxation, purification and a connection to nature. Evenings here unfold with seasonal kaiseki dining, a tradition that dates back to the tea ceremony of the 16th century.
Next, discover Osaka, known as the 鈥渘ation鈥檚 kitchen鈥 since the Edo period. Taste its famed takoyaki and kushikatsu in neon lit D艒tonbori, then pause in Nara, Japan鈥檚 first permanent capital in the 8th century, where sacred deer still roam freely around temples and shrines.
In Kyoto, wander beneath the 10,000 vermilion gates of Fushimi Inari Taisha and explore Zen gardens whose minimalist raked gravel patterns date back hundreds of years. Join a private tea ceremony to experience a practice refined over four centuries, embodying the principles of harmony and respect. Geishas still walk the lantern lit lanes of Gion, maintaining one of Japan鈥檚 most enduring cultural traditions.
The journey then pivots to Palau, a Pacific paradise of more than 300 islands. Board the Four Seasons Explorer to snorkel Jellyfish Lake, where millions of golden jellyfish drift harmlessly each day following the sun鈥檚 arc, and kayak through limestone coves. Divers can explore World War II wrecks around Peleliu, reminders of the fierce 1944 battle, while evenings bring barefoot barbecues under star filled skies.
From Kyoto鈥檚 temple bells to Palau鈥檚 coral ringed lagoons, this itinerary offers a rare combination of cultural immersion and natural wonder, contrasts that together create an unforgettable voyage.
