The view across Bagan鈥檚 temple-strewn landscape is one of the most captivating sights in Southeast Asia. Perched on the banks of the Irrawaddy River in central Myanmar, this ancient city is dotted with thousands of atmospheric pagodas and intricate stupas.
Bagan鈥檚 jaw-dropping collection of Buddhist monuments is considered by many to be on a par with Cambodia鈥檚 Angkor Wat. Rising high above the trees, many of the temples were constructed during the height of the Burmese Kingdom between the 11th and 13th centuries, with over 2,000 of the originals still standing today.
