A TRULY MAGICAL PLACE TO EXPLORE
If you dream of up-close encounters with India鈥檚 Bengal tigers, Ranthambore National Park is the place to be. Strewn with the ruins of a bygone era, it鈥檚 a truly magical place to explore.
A private hunting ground for the maharajas of days gone by, Ranthambore is now India鈥檚 most celebrated wildlife sanctuary and premier tiger viewing destination. It received national park status in 1980 and was one of the first places to be included in the conservation scheme Project Tiger.
Include Ranthambore in your luxury, tailor-made holiday and you鈥檒l enjoy both early morning and late afternoon game drives in search of the park鈥檚 tigers. You鈥檒l be led by knowledgeable guides who鈥檒l use their experience to help you spot these elusive cats as they roam freely through their forest habitat. As well as tigers, keep your eyes peeled for sambar deer, striped hyenas, leopards, wild boar, civets, chinkaras, Indian foxes and an array of exotic birds.
As well as being a haven for wildlife, Ranthambore鈥檚 scenic landscape makes it a dream for nature lovers and photographers. The park鈥檚 400 square kilometres of dry, deciduous forest is studded with pretty lakes and the crumbling remains of temples, burial tombs and old hunting pavilions. At its heart lies the 10th century Ranthambore Fort, the park鈥檚 namesake and a protected World Heritage Site. Today you can walk amongst the old stone courtyards, Hindu temples and hallways of what was once one of the grandest forts in the country.
