GRAND HOTEL COCUMELLA

Tranquil Gardens of Sorrento

Dating back to the 16th century (when it was a Jesuit Monastery) the ‘honey bottom’ was – and still is – famed for its phenomenal gardens, orange and lemon groves.

Grand Hotel Cocumella, Sorrento | Ultimate Travel Company

Make the Grand Hotel Cocumella part of your luxury, tailor-made holiday to Italy and you’ll soon see why it earned its nickname. The hotel’s name comes from ‘colomeide’, or ‘honey bottom’, an allusion to the monastery’s fertile groves of fragrant citrus fruits. The Cocumella has been a hotel for almost two hundred years, and the allusion still stands in good stead – today’s gardens stretch for acre after acre of tree-lined paths, lily ponds, ancient walls and statues, hanging flowers, secluded walks and fruit trees.

The hotel itself is hardly less picturesque. Its lounges are supremely graceful with archways and glittering chandeliers. Its terraces offer unrivalled, sweeping views of the Mediterranean or the tranquil gardens. The suites typically have private balconies overlooking the sea and spectacular trompe l’eoil ceilings.

“IN SAFE HANDS, EVEN WHEN PLANS CHANGE”
Every detail of our Patagonia tour was expertly arranged – from transfers and flights to the choice of hotels. When our onward flight to the Falklands was delayed by two days, ºÃÉ«ÏÈÉúTV stepped in immediately and secured a hotel for us. It was an enormous relief, especially as we don’t speak Spanish and had no idea what to do next. That level of thoughtful, responsive service stayed with us – it turned a potential travel hiccup into a lasting positive memory.

“THREE HOLIDAYS IN AND STILL HIGHLY RECOMMEDED”
Dan Mills organised perfectly a challenging itinerary to incorporate a wedding we were attending in Kathmandu. A fantastic balance of trekking, rafting, safari, sightseeing and R&R. This was our third holiday with Ultimate Travel and we cannot recommend highly enough

“EXPERTLY TAILORED, EFFORTLESSLY ENJOYABLE”
We travelled to Indochina in January/February with an itinerary designed by ºÃÉ«ÏÈÉúTV – and it was spot on. Rob, our consultant, really understood what we were looking for and created a journey that suited us perfectly. The choice of hotels was excellent, and the pace was just right, with enough time built in to relax and recharge between the different experiences. The service throughout was professional, personal and thoughtful – exactly what you want from a travel specialist.
