Backed by huge granite boulders in the foothills of the Erongo Mountains, the remnants of an ancient volcano complex, Ai Aiba Lodge opens the door to over 200 sites of ancient bushman rock art.
Just a few hours’ north of Windhoek, the lodge forms part of the 200,000 hectare Erongo Mountain Nature Conservancy, a beautiful landscape rich in both biodiversity and cultural heritage. At Ai Aiba, expert local guides will lead you on fascinating walks and nature drives to uncover numerous sites of bushman rock art (some dating back more than 2,000 years) depicting human life, animals and age-old hunting rituals. You’ll also learn more about the region’s rare flora and fauna, with sightings of Hartmann’s mountain zebra, dik-dik and oryx to be enjoyed alongside an impressive variety of birds.
The lodge itself enjoys sweeping views over the rugged landscape with its rocky outcrops, with a crystal-clear pool to lounge around between activities. The thatched roof restaurant and bar area opens onto magnificent vistas across the bush savannah stretching out towards the Erongo Massif, providing the perfect dining backdrop. Accommodation is made up of ten mountain-facing chalets with a total of 20 rooms, each beautifully decorated in classic African style with large windows and private shaded verandas.
